Reading Town – Shinsanbon: Dang-dong, Gyeonggi-do

I have not been paid on time (sometimes up to 10 days late) since my first pay period. The directors have never talked to me personally and most times try to avoid eye contact when they see me. The school was advertised to me by my recruiter as having two foreign teachers; the first day on the job realizing I was the only one. They gave me a one-room apartment with no window, and I have yet to meet any other foreign teacher with a smaller one. I’ve heard that the directors think I have no responsiblity for the work that I do because I “demanded” a better room. Some coworkers CAN speak English, but choose to go through an intermediary to avoid contact with me. Not at all welcoming. Despite HUGE windows in each classroom, they are completely covered with opaque stickers, resulting in not being able to see sunlight for six hours a day. Recently the schedule has been changed so that I have! one hour of prep-time one day a week. Other than that, solid class schedule. This hagwon has no idea what it takes to hire a foreigner and has shown that they simply cannot afford one. Do not sign at this hagwon.
