This hagwon is located in a perfect spot. Near big universities in Hongdae and Sinchon, there are lots of things to do in the area.

However, the hagwon operates with poor management. Management calls the teachers names and blames them for every lost student. Teachers have been fired without warning or explanation, placed on probation for reasons beyond teacher’s control, and forced to move apartments. Teachers must work 4 Saturdays a year and are expected (but not required) to work other Saturdays voluntarily.

Also, teachers are not given pension or national health care. Instead, they are on a medical plan that requires paying up front and reimbursement months later. Also, this plan does NOT cover medications or women’s exams.

Lastly, the management sabotages teacher’s efforts to get other jobs, by providing poor and untrue references.

Agreed this school always made if difficult for me to ever feel that I was doing a good job. Moral was always low, management showed a visible dislike for teachers. I loved teaching but hated the management. They really create a divide between the Korean staff and the foreign staff. Aside from the location I would never suggest that someone work here. There have been many that have not finished their contract because of losing students, which as you will learn is not entirely the teacher’s fault.

Pros: The location is great. The kids are cute. The apartment I was provided was very nice.

Cons: It was my first teaching job in Korea and was it was very ‘intense’. There is A LOT of outside prep time. The curriculum was a flimsy mishmash of various books that didn’t always flow together. I am happier at my new job – true, teaching is not a mindless fun way to make money – you do have to put in outside time. However (in my opinion during my time there) it was excessive.
If you are the type who loves to do EVERYTHING from making every test, copying all the papers, grading, correcting, detailed lesson planning for various levels – then you have that control at KC.
And things change – so it could be better or worse now. As with any job overseas – get as many emails of current and past employees. Look on social networking sites too!
Good luck.

Location, nice. Owners, really not nice.
There are a lucky few teachers who have had a really great experience and finished the contract happily. However, there are about 3 times more teachers who did not finish or did and suffered through the whole time. For most of us, the bosses made us feel like we were bad teachers and didn’t deserve to be at the school. I would not recommend working here unless you know that you are willing to put in a lot of effort. Excessive effort is the only thing that the bosses will like you for. I have a very different experience at my current job! The owner actually appreciates the teachers, and gives us positive feedback constantly. Better jobs exist!

Everyone hit the nail on the head….awesome location, decent apartments, horrible boss.

Kid’s College forces you to work very long hours with lots of stress and prep work, work occasional weekends, and never get thanked for all your hard work. When I was working there, the school was lucky to have lots of really talented teachers, but we were all made to feel like we were not good at all. The parents control the school by complaining constantly, and the owners never back up their teachers, so the parents become even more worried.

The kids are super cute and sweet, and teaching in Korea can be wonderful, but I would not recommend Yunhee Kid’s College to anyone.

I taught at Kid’s college for 6 months and was fired. I started in July just after graduating college that May. I didn’t have any experience teaching and the school knew that! I was hired as the teacher for the third year kindergarten class. The teacher before me was supposedly bad, other foreign teachers said he just showed up and gave the kids coloring sheets. Anyway I went into the class and I watched other tteachers and tried to replicate their methods. I did my best. I stayed late 2-3 nights a week to do the lesson plans . I skipped my lunch many times to make copies! Around early september I was told I needed to change my teaching methods. The boss came in and told me what to change. I made the changes. Then in early October I was placed on probabtion. To me probation is necessary if you aren’t doing what the boss said. BUt I had made changes. In fact the other foreign teachers told me they could tell I had made the changes that had been suggested. After the probation I was told I had two weeks to make more changes,,,which were mostly the ones I had already made! Then exactly one week later, not two like I was told, I was fired. But they were nice enough to give me two weeks notice. They did give me a letter to get another job. Apparently to them I wasn’t a good kinder teacher! But my second school loved me! anway it does have a nice location adn the apartment I had was nice but the school isn’t good!
