The owner is friendly as long as you don't start questioning the deductions from your pay. I was there for quite a while (too long now that I think back) and I was being shafted the whole time. The owner was taking way too much from my pay for pension, income tax and other stuff. The medical (which was being deducted) wasn't even being paid and I only found this out when I was sick once and had to go to a doctor. The salary was only average to begin with, so with all the little things, it adds up.

The school looks nice, and they DO have a lot of supplementary materials (books, games, videos), but the problem is that the owner doesn't like to pay. The first month I was there, half of my salary was witheld as a deposit for various expenses. When I worked more than the 120 classes per month (by an extra 4 classes per week) the owner tried to explain that the term "class" means "1 hour of teacher" so since the time with the students (a class) is only 40 minutes, it's not a full class. So unless I did more than 180 classes a month (i.e. 9 classes a day) then i didn't qualify for overtime. He tried to make it sounds good by pointing out that even though i wasn't doing my full workload of "120 full classes" I'd still get my full monthly pay. He was also scamming me on the utilities for my appartment. From the first month, i thought to myself that they were high but I had nothing to compare to in Korea so i just a! ccepted it. But later a friend at another school told me what he paid. Next pay day when the owner shoed me the bills for my appartment i photocopied it. A Korean friend told me that I was in fact paying the utilities for the actual school! Not my appartment! That's where things really went downhill because the director got upset that I accused him of lying and threatened to fire me and such. In the end he said that he made a mistake and would check the records and pay me back the difference owing. Next pay day he didn't with the excuse that he was busy and didn't have time. This was 7months into my contract. I said that if he didn't pay me back the next month, i'd give him 30 days notice and leave. Next pay day, he said that because he suspected I was planning on leaving, he'd hold back half a months salary AND pay me 15 days after the end of the month (which means that in reality i was having a whole salary withheld). So next payday. I left. I wouldn't recommend to anyone! going back there.
