JLS is an excellent hagwon to work for!! In my opinion it is the best in Seoul. I’ve been teaching and living here for almost two years, and I’ve never met another foreigner working at a hagwon that has as good of a deal as this school provides.
Maximum hours per week is about 23, no prep time, no test/worksheet making, no lesson plans, no office hours. You go in, teach, and go home. Summer and winter intensives last 2-3 weeks but you are paid extra for those. The school matches your pension, always pays on time….excellent communication.
They have a lot of great materials to use and give you room to teach according to your own teaching style, no one is breathing down your neck. No kindergarden classes either.
Keep in mind, JLS does not hire people without previous teaching experience. They especially want teachers who have experience teaching in Asia and who are very energetic and have a lively personality. I’ve worked for them almost two years and do not have a single complaint about the school!!

Although I am not a JLS teacher, many of my friends work at several of their different locations. Not one of my friends or any other JLS employee has had anything bad to say about the school, management, curriculum, or any aspect of their corporation. The teachers are fully supported in their attempts to improve their teaching skills and often have valuable workshops not only to inform personnel of events, but encourage various teaching methodologies.
I will soon be leaving my so called “hagwon” where everything seems to be an unorganized headache, and apply with JLS as soon as possible. If every foreign teacher there is as happy and enthusiastic as my friends, there really could be nothing better.
